Teacher Perspective

"Let me say, first off, that the school will offer an
academically-rigorous curriculum. But why will
students embrace this type of curriculum?

Kids in school normally do work because they are
supposed to, or do the minimal.  In either case they don’
t understand why they are required to have an
education. This means that they are often pushed,
pulled, cajoled and forced into learning.

The school actually offers kids a reason to go to school.
The philosophy of the school is that education allows a
person to transform his/her society for the better, not in
the future, but starting in the here and now.

Having this purpose of education for change provides a
reason that every member of the school community to be
committed to every kid getting the highest standards of
education."
